“I build myself a temple in my heart to honor the divinity within.” Tracey Coretta Sometimes you’re on top of the world with things falling right into place.  Other times every bit of your outlook seems broken or jaded. Life is funny that way.  So finding a balanced mindset despite the ups and downs we experience daily is a mental wellness goal we should all strive for. But sometimes when we’re down it’s hard to pick ourselves up. That’s when a little creative help becomes valuable. I curated a help list of things to place into a box.  I like to think of it as a Self Care Kit.  You can open it up whenever you need a little encouragement or reminder to take care of yourself.  Or you can use it whenever you’re feeling blue or overwhelmed.

Journal and Fancy Pen

On the first page write ten reasons why you love yourself.  Take some time to really think it through. Discover the things you really appreciate about yourself.  Identify the characteristics that makes you smile deeply.  For example, I love that I’m not afraid to take risks even when they scare the crap outta me.  I’ll do new things at the risk of embarrassing myself in order to grow.  Write them in your journal so that you remember these words that you’ll speak over yourself whenever you feel down.

Body Oil

Find an exquisite blend of natural plant based oils infused with lavender, vanilla, or peppermint essential oil.  Depending on what time of day it is rub a few drops onto your wrists and forehead (peppermint during the morning ,lavender or vanilla at night). It’ll give you a quick yet powerful aromatherapy boost.  Also, never underestimate the power of giving yourself a good body massage.  Don’t have anyone to rub your feet? No worries use some body oil and rub them yourself.

Quotes

Make a list of quotes from writers whose words give you life. Read them out loud to help them give you the inspiration you need to keep going.

Pretty Reminder

Create a check list written in water color or pretty penmanship to help gently remind get you back on track if you’re not doing the following consistently: 1. Eat 5 servings of veggies and fruit a day 2. Drink more water 3. Exercise 4. Get some fresh air and sunlight 5. Hug someone you love

Notes of Encouragement

Get your loved ones to write you notes of encouragement. The exercise will give you a chance to connect with the people who mean the most to you.  Sometimes affirmation from others can mean a lot when you need a word or two of encouragement.
